Get Your Valley Home Ready for Summer Entertaining

By Joey Lambert February 19, 2026 Seasonal Guides 5 min read

Summer in the Shenandoah Valley means cookouts, weekend visitors, and your house pulling double duty as both a home and a gathering place. The difference between a house that's ready for company and one that isn't usually comes down to a few targeted cleaning tasks, most of which you can knock out in a single day.

Exterior first

Your guests see the outside before they see the inside. If the siding has green streaks or the porch looks gray, that's the first impression. A soft wash before Memorial Day weekend resets the entire exterior and lasts through fall. It's one of the highest-impact things you can do before summer starts.

  • Soft wash the siding, especially north-facing walls where algae grows
  • Clean the porch, patio, and any outdoor furniture
  • Wash the windows so the house looks bright from outside
  • Sweep or blow off the driveway and walkways

Interior essentials

Focus on the rooms guests actually use: the kitchen, the main bathroom, and the living area.

  • Deep clean the kitchen, especially the stovetop, oven, and counters
  • Scrub the guest bathroom from top to bottom
  • Vacuum upholstered furniture (crumbs and pet hair are more visible in summer light)
  • Clean all ceiling fans before turning them on for the season
  • Mop all hard floors, including under the dining table

The summer bundle

Our most popular spring booking is what we call the summer prep bundle: a deep interior clean paired with soft washing the exterior and cleaning the windows. One visit, one team, one day. Your house is ready for the entire summer.
