What this service actually is
Area rugs are different from wall-to-wall carpet. They're often nicer material, they're meant to be showcased, and they're a real investment in most rooms that have one. Our area rug cleaning treats them that way - as individual pieces deserving individual attention.
Our preferred method is to pick up your rugs, clean them at our shop in Staunton, and deliver them back to you. This allows for proper drying to prevent mold and mildew. Typical turnaround is 3 to 5 days. You can also drop them off at our Staunton office. We do offer in-home cleaning if preferred, but the customer will need to provide a fan for adequate drying and avoid placing furniture on the rug until fully dry.
Our shop cleaning works well for most residential area rugs - wool blends, synthetic blends, machine-woven pieces, and most standard Oriental-style rugs in good condition. For very high-value antique Orientals or rugs that need a specialty deep treatment, we can talk through whether our method is right for your piece before scheduling.

Questions we get asked a lot
Do you pick up my rug and take it somewhere?
No - we clean your rugs in place, in your home. Your rug never leaves. That's a practical difference from a lot of rug cleaners who require a drop-off and a wait.
How long does it take?
An average 8x10 or 9x12 area rug takes about 30 to 60 minutes depending on the fiber and the condition. Multiple rugs in the same visit scale efficiently because we're already set up.
How long until the rug is dry?
Usually 2 to 4 hours, similar to our carpet cleaning. You can usually walk on it the same afternoon.
Can you clean wool rugs?
Most modern wool rugs and wool blends, yes. For very fine antique wool Orientals or hand-knotted pieces in delicate condition, we may recommend a specialty rug cleaner that uses a different process. We'll talk through your specific rug when you book.
Will you treat stains?
Yes - pre-treatment of visible stains is included in every job. Some stains lift completely, some lift partially, and some are set deep enough that no safe cleaning method will fully remove them. We'll tell you honestly what we can do before we start.
How much does it cost?
Per-rug pricing based on size and fiber. A standard 8x10 synthetic rug is very different from a fine wool piece. Use our quote form to get a specific number for your rugs.
